If you’re dreaming of crystal-clear water, powdery white sand, and a destination that feels both luxurious and laid-back, the Cayman Islands should be at the top of your list.
Located in the western Caribbean, this trio of islands—Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman—offers the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and upscale island charm.

Meet the Islands
Grand Cayman – The Heart of It All
Grand Cayman is the largest and most popular island, known for its world-famous Seven Mile Beach, upscale resorts, and vibrant dining scene. This is where you’ll find most of the action, from water excursions to shopping and nightlife.
Cayman Brac – Rugged & Untouched
Perfect for travelers who want something quieter, Cayman Brac offers dramatic cliffs, caves, and incredible diving. It’s ideal for nature lovers and those looking to unplug.
Little Cayman – Pure Paradise
If “peaceful paradise” is your vibe, Little Cayman is it. With a population under 200, it’s home to some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean, especially at Bloody Bay Wall.

Underwater Capital of the Caribbean
The Cayman Islands are often called the “Underwater Capital of the Caribbean”- and for good reason.
- Crystal-clear visibility (often 100+ feet!)
- Vibrant coral reefs and marine life
- World-famous dive sites like Bloody Bay Wall
- Easy access to reefs right from shore or short boat rides
With 365 officially named dive sites in Cayman, it’s possible to experience a breathtaking dive at a unique site every day of the year.
The conditions here are about as perfect as it gets—warm water year-round (around 80°), calm currents, and visibility that often exceeds 100 feet. That means even if you’re newer to snorkeling or diving, you’ll still get an amazing experience.
What you’ll find below the surface is just as impressive—colorful coral reefs, tons of marine life, dramatic wall dives, and even shipwrecks that have become part of the underwater landscape. It’s easy to understand why this destination is consistently ranked among the best diving spots in the world.
The Cayman Islands have also been part of the diving world for decades, with organized dive experiences dating back to the 1950s. Today, there are plenty of professional dive operators available to guide you—whether you’re trying it for the first time, heading out on a technical dive, or even looking for something unique like an underwater scooter (DPV) experience.
Babylon North Wall
One of the best wall dives in the Caribbean. Located off the North Side east of Old Man Bay, it starts at a depth of about 40 feet (12 m). Less-experienced divers will enjoy the flats before the drop-off where they’ll be able to see black coral and rope sponges. After the drop-off, there will be angel fish, parrotfish, and more, including species like barracuda.

Sunset House Reef
This reef can be reached from the pier at the Sunset House Resort. The colorful reef begins at 30 feet (10 m), then slopes to 50 feet (15 m) and features many canyons. Here divers are surrounded by marine life once they leave the ocean pool. There are schools of squid, dories, hawksbill turtles, and parrotfish. There’s also a bronze nine-foot mermaid at the reef base.
Orange Canyon West Wall
Located on the northwest tip of the west side of Grand Cayman and features a deep canyon surrounded by orange sponges that make an impressive backdrop for images. Colorful corals, eagle rays, tarpon, sharks, and tiny silversides are also found here. The average depth ranges from 59 feet (18 m) to a maximum depth of 131 feet (42 m), making this suitable only for the most experienced divers.
Even if you’re not a certified diver, snorkeling here is just as incredible. You’ll see tropical fish, rays, and maybe even sea turtles—all in calm, warm water.

Top Things to Do in the Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands may be known for their beautiful beaches—but what really makes this destination special is everything you can do once you get there. Whether you’re looking for unique experiences, laid-back beach days, or a little adventure, there’s something here for everyone. Let’s dive into some of the top things to do!
Stingray City
One of the most unique experiences in the Caribbean—stand in waist-deep water and interact with friendly stingrays. It’s safe, unforgettable, and a must-do! Visitors, including children get to interact with gentle rays under the watchful eye of local experts to ensure that encounters are safe for both visitors and rays.
Starfish Point
Located on the quieter side of the island near Rum Point, this beach is known for bright orange starfish that rest in the shallow, crystal-clear water just offshore. It’s one of the few places where you can actually see them up close in their natural habitat.

Seven Mile Beach
Consistently ranked one of the best beaches in the world, this stretch of sand is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and sunset walks. Perfect for families and less experienced snorkelers due to its clear waters and gentle surf.
Hell
Yes, it’s real! This quirky limestone formation makes for a fun photo opportunity. This geological rock formation wonder was created more than 10 million years ago. You can even send a postcard from Hell.

Rum Point
A quieter alternative to Seven Mile Beach, Rum Point offers hammocks, shallow water, and that “hidden gem” feel. Adults will appreciate the number of watersports suppliers here. Rum Point is excellent for snorkeling and is an entry point (10-15 minutes by kayak) for popular bioluminescent bay experiences, one of only a few places in the world where this phenomenon is found
Cayman Crystal Caves
Located on the northeastern end of the island starts with a walk through lush foliage before venturing into a cave system with striking stalactites and stalagmites.
Cayman Turtle Center
Here you can explore the island’s fish, bird, and other reptile species in addition to turtles. Its Aviary and Predator Reef displays attract attention, but the primary appeal is the turtle breeding pond, hatchery, touch tank, and a wading pond. Great for families as this interactive experience lets you learn about and even swim with turtles.
